Characterisation of the Theobroma cacao accessions in the International Cocoa Genebank, Trinidad.
Molecular
Molecular characterisation is undertaken at CRU for genetic diversity studies and clone verification. At present, the method being employed is SSR-PCR however in future, SNP markers will be adopted.
Morphological
Cacao accessions housed at the International Cocoa Genebank, Trinidad are characterised for morphological traits using a descriptor list modified from the original list sanctioned by the IPGRI (now Bioversity).
