Michel Boccara - Visiting Scientist from CIRAD, France at Cocoa Research Centre

Michel is a visiting Scientist at CRC from the ”Centre de Coopération Internationale de Recherche Agronomique pour le Développement” (CIRAD, France). He is leading the research team of CRC's Bio-molecular Section conducting studies on cocoa trees identification with molecular markers, genetic diversity and candidate gene identification.

Areas of expertise, interest/specialties

• DNA fingerprinting of cocoa trees accessions

• Assessment of genetic diversity of ICG,T collection

• Development of new bio-molecular techniques for tree identification: SNP markers, CAPS

• Gene identification for quality traits

• Development of a pollen conservation technique

• ARCAD: comparative population genomics in wild and crop plants: a genome and phylogenetic wide approach
